Wellness Therapies

Susan Collini – MNCH(Reg) HPD HypDip (CECCH) CNHC

Hello and welcome

You’ve arrived at ‘Wellness Therapies’ and I’m Susan Collini. I utilise a range of different therapeutic approaches to help adults and children improve their life experiences.

Low mood, anxiety, smoking/vaping cessation, grief, excess weight, fears and phobias are just a few of the issues that can be successfully addressed using therapeutic interventions. To see what past clients have to say about the experience of working with me you can read Google reviews.

My work encompasses a range of treatment approaches including Clinical Hypnotherapy, CBH (Cognitive Behavioural Hypnotherapy) IEMT (Integral Eye Movement Therapy), Mindfulness and Nature Connection therapy. One, or a combination of the above will be chosen by the client and myself to form the basis of the treatment-plan I will devise, based on the preference of the client, issue(s) presented and suitability for desired outcome.

What I do

Simply put, I help bring about change in how a person feels about themselves, other people or situations causing them distress. I can work with clients face-to-face or online via Zoom.

Often people start their therapy journey wanting to feel less of something, whether it be anger, fear, resentment or anxiety. In quite a short period of time it is possible to shift ways of thinking, reframing or removing intense emotional responses that are exerting unhelpful influences on the way a person thinks, feels and behaves. Wellness Therapies can be powerful but should never be seen as an alternative ‘choice’ to seeking medical advice, about a problem you are experiencing, from your GP first.

You can book a free, no-obligation, 30-minute Zoom or telephone chat to discover whether I am the person you feel you would like to work with to help you bring about change(s) in your life for the better.

How I’d work with you

After an initial, free, 30 minute conversation, if we both decide that working together could be productive, I will come up with a plan. This may involve suggesting you work with me in a group situation, one-to-one, or maybe a mixture of both.

My aim in working with you will be to help you create positive change, transforming your experience of life from how you are now to how you want to be.

I can help you with…

N

Low Mood

Periods of low mood are quite normal for everyone, so long as they don’t go on too long. If persistent low mood is impacting your ability to experience life as you would like then I would be happy to discuss a range of options you could consider to bring about a change in the way you are feeling right now.

N

Lack of self worth

Thoughts and feelings about lack of self-worth are more common than you think, it’s just people get very well practiced at saying to others and themselves “I’m fine” when they are not. Your beliefs about who your are are purely neural pathways that exist in your brain, developed through past experiences. You don’t have to revisit every bad or sad thing that’s happened in your life in order to feel more confident in yourself. You undoubtedly have the ability to change the way you feel about yourself but a helping hand to effect change in your subconscious can be the life-changer you need.

N

Anxiety

Anxiety is a state of being and could be described as a physical manifestation of fear connected with thoughts. Experiencing fear about something is usually short-lived and actually helps us deal with a threat we face. However, experiencing an ongoing sense of fear without recognised cause can be an indication that your nervous system has, essentially, become stuck in ‘fight or flight’ mode. I work with people to develop self-help ways to regulate their overactive nervous system and release tension stored in their body. Lowering reactivity provides more control and the ability to reduce unwanted behaviours linked to anxiety.

N

Physical Pain

If drugs don’t work to lessen your pain levels then exploring ways to change the level of pain experienced  is worth finding out more about. The therapeutic methods I use in pain related work includes clinical hypnotherapy and mindfulness techniques and also IEMT (Integral Eye Movement Therapy). Whether your pain is due to surgery, cancer or a chronic illness such as Fibromyalgia, there are ways to lower/better manage your pain that can significantly improve your life experience.

N

Loss

Loss and feelings of inner sadness are an intertwined part of human experience. Whether caused by loss of employment, loss of health or loss involving a person or beloved pet, the effects can be extremely debilitating,  to the point that you can feel exhausted mentally, emotionally and physically from trying to carry on day to day. You can be helped to learn to not only live with the loss but develop resilience and motivation to move on.

N

Building confidence

The key to getting what you want in life lies in possessing the inner confidence to make the changes you need to feel more happy and fulfilled in your life. Moving from feeling a victim of life’s circumstances, lacking ability to recognise what can be changed, to someone who is motivated to make small, consistent changes is the path to gaining greater confidence to view possibilities in life that could be yours.

N

Inner Peace

I provide a 4 session course, delivered online, to help people learn self-help techniques for connecting with a place of inner calm and tranquility. You can read more about this course by following this link to self-help for inner peace.

Benefits

  • Individually tailored treatment plans that are discussed and agreed with you. There’s no ‘one technique for all’ approach in the way I work.
  •  Follow-ups between treatment sessions to support you along your pathway towards change
  • Personalised mp.3 recording to work with
  • Online resource area with helpful exercises and reading suggestions
  • Free access to an online Mindfulness  group I run  (for the duration of your treatment plan)
Treatment plans

Following an initial conversation, during which you’ll be asked a series of questions relating to what change(s) you want to bring about, I’ll construct a treatment plan. Once agreed with you, your individualised treatment plan will be put into effect, with regular reviews along the way. The therapeutic methodologies I draw from include clinical hypnotherapy (including regression therapies, neuro-linguistic-programming, cognitive behavioural therapy techniques), mindfulness training, Tapping and IEMT (Eye Movement Therapy). I also encourage clients to explore the benefits to their wellbeing through nature connection activities.

.

Follow-ups

I consider follow-ups an important aspect of support for clients, helping provide encouragement and motivation in-between sessions. I see my role in the follow-up as being a good friend, just checking in with you, rather than an authoritorian figure checking up on you. At the end of the day you have to want to make the change(s) and a good friend would be there to help you reach your desired destination.

Personalised mp.3 recordings

This could be a personalised Mindfulness-based recording, training your brain to pay greater attention to what is happening in the present moment, rather than continually whisking your attention off elsewhere. Or it could be a recording to listen to before you go to sleep, encouraging both relaxation and new ideas to take on board that will help you experience your desired therapeutic outcome. I also teach clients about self-hypnosis and provide mp3 recordings to help them establish this nourishing and valuable wellbeing habit.

Onlline resource area

I create a personalised online portal for each client where useful reading and links to other useful web resources are listed. There’s no obligation to have to engage with this, but I feel it’s important to provide as much relevant information for clients, support their journey towards change.

Online Mindfulness group

I run an online session at 8 p.m. on a Tuesday. This is a small group of people who meet together because they find it enhances their wellbeing and provides an enjoyable sense of community. We generally have a short chat about the preceding week and then I provide a mindfulness-inspired meditation designed to relax and restore emotional equilibrium. The session lasts 45 minutes and seems to be very much valued by those who attend as their ‘Me Time’ in their week.
